Agrotain, how it works
Agrotain is a liquid impregnated either at the Agrocentre or at the producer’s who has his own mixer to do the job. At impregnation, Agrotain blocks the activity of the urease enzyme which is responsible for the transformation of urea into ammonia which is released into the environment and causes ammonia burn to the seedlings. With Agrotain, the use of urea or a nitrogen solution is improved.
Urea, nitrogen solutions and the nitrogen cycle
Besides slowing down the first step of urea conversion (CO(NH2)2) into ammoniac, AGROTAIN also prevents two important problems related to the use of urea and nitrogen solutions: 1. the volatilization and 2. the ammoniacal burns of the plant germs.
This graphic shows how urea granule, and urea contained in the nitrogen solutions, transform into nitrogen which in turn can be used in crops. It also illustrates both the steps where nitrogen can be lost and where in can hurt the plant germs.
